[Solved] OpenOffice: Unable to save in DOCX format
OpenOffice does not and never has had the ability to save in .docx format. LibreOffice does, but we do not recommend using these types of file formats. Please see [Tutorial]Differences between Writer and MS Word file Microsoft Office, since 2007, has the ability to open files saved using the Open Document Format. (.odt extension for Writer files).

[Solved] Which format to save OpenOffice ODT for Word
MS Word can open Writer-native ODT files directly. No need for a "special save" operation. It is also possible to "save as" legacy Word file (.doc). With LibreOffice Writer you can also save to the current Word formats (.docx etc.). In some cases you are better off to export to PDF format

Can't open docx file - Apache OpenOffice Community Forum
I can confirm that your file is not a .docx file (or is a corrupt one) as Word 2007 opens it in compatibility mode, and even then it is not rendered correctly with the images on page one and two.
